It is Bernina's more affordable line, made to a different price and specification but sold and serviced through the same dealer network. That network is most of what you are paying for at the bottom of the range, and it is a legitimate reason to choose it over a cheaper badge.
Automatic needle positioning and the more sophisticated buttonhole programmes. What you keep is a machine with fewer parts that can fail and a workshop that will service it. On a first machine that is a reasonable trade.
